The Uniroyal Gal, a fixture at the 1800 SW block of Washington Street in Peoria, Ill., for nearly four decades, has seen attire changes from flashy to modest over the nearly four decades she has stood near the Cedar Street Bridge. In 2005, an elderly motorist was struck as she was driving and her car careened into the base of the Uniroyal Gal, breaking her toes and right ankle and damaging her high-heeled left foot. Today, she stands tall, a beacon for those who desire tires throughout Central Illinois.
